Crude oil supply climbs in week

WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. crude oil inventories rose by 5.2 million barrels in the week that ended Friday, the Energy Information Administration said.

Crude oil stockpiles climbed to 379.8 million barrels and are above the upper inventory range for this time of year, the agency said.

EIA said supplies of motor grade gasoline fell by 1.8 million barrels to 215.5 million barrels and are near the top of the average range for this time of year.

Supplies of distillate fuels, which include home heating oil, rose by 1.5 million barrels to 125.8 million and remain near the lower limit of the average range for this time of year.

The national average retail price of regular unleaded gasoline rose for the first week out of the past seven, climbing by 0.6 cents to $3.36 per gallon. The price is 32.7 cents per gallon below the price in the same week of 2012, the EIA said.
