Google personalized ads have an opt out

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 12 (UPI) -- U.S. search engine Google says users can opt out if they don't want their names or faces used in digital ads popping on the screens of friends and colleagues.

Google will roll out a new feature of its Google+ in which reviews of products and business establishments written by users will be seen by other users performing searches for the same products and places.

The photos and reviews are obtained through the user's Google+ profile. The search-engine giant said Friday users who don't want their images and identities splashed around their friends' screens can opt out on the Shared Endorsements setting on Google+ accounts.

CNN said Google is betting users like to voice their opinions to their friends, even if it means warning them away from a bad experience.
