Mazda joins flurry of auto recalls

Sept. 28, 2013 at 7:56 PM   |   Comments

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Mazda Motor Corp. Saturday joined Nissan, Toyota and Hyundai in recalling large numbers of vehicles.

Mazda said it is recalling 161,400 of its 2009-20013 Mazda6 cars because they have side doors that could inadvertently open or fail to close, The Detroit News reported. Door latch mounting screws that can come loose are to blame for the problem, the automaker said.

The solution, Mazda said, will be for dealers to remove the screws on all doors, apply a thread locking adhesive and re-tighten the screws. Any missing screws will be replaced

Nissan Motor Co. said Thursday it is recalling 908,900 Infiniti M, X-Trail sport utility vehicle and Serena minivan models -- most of those in Japan -- because of faulty sensors that could cause vehicles to stall.

Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday it is recalling 694,000 Sienna minivans in North America because of the risk of rolling away while parked.

Hyundai Motor Co. recalled 760,000 Accent, Elantra Touring, Entourage, Genesis, Sonata, Tiburon, Veracruz and Tucson models, as well as some Kia Azeras in North America because of brake light issues.
