Southwest raises the bar on reward program

Sept. 23, 2013 at 6:25 PM   |   Comments

DALLAS, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. discount carrier Southwest Airlines said Monday it would raise the number of points frequent fliers need to book reward flights.

Southwest said starting with flights booked at the end of March, it would take 70 points, rather than 60, to earn a "Wanna Get Away" reward flight at the program's cheapest level.

Redemption rates for the airline's "Business Select" and "Anytime" programs were not changed, the company said.
