TOKYO, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Japan's domestic new automobile sales slipped 1.1 percent in August year-on-year to 366,754 units, the country's dealers association said.

It was the fourth straight monthly decline, the Japan Automobile Dealers Associate said.

New sales, excluding mini-vehicles, dropped 6.4 percent to 217,411 units in August, Kyodo News reported.

The decline was partially offset by sales of mini-vehicles with high fuel efficiency. They rose 7.9 percent to a record 149,343 units in August, the report said.
