NEW YORK, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Crude oil for October delivery topped $106 per barrel Friday.

After getting a boost from manufacturing data from China, Europe and the United States Thursday, gains slowed with West Texas Intermediate crude adding $1.34 in Friday's session to reach $106.37 per barrel.

Reformulated blendstock gasoline on the New York Mercantile Exchange added 2.7 cents to reach $2.8654 per gallon. Home heating oil gained 2.51 cents to reach $3.0988 per gallon.

Natural gas shed 6.2 cents to $3.483 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline was $3.536, up from Thursday's $3.534, the AAA Fuel Gauge report said.
