4,600 Subaru portable gas generators recalled

July 23, 2013 at 2:42 PM   |   Comments

WASHINGTON, July 23 (UPI) -- Robin America Inc. is recalling about 4,600 Subaru portable gasoline generators imported from China with fuel tanks that can leak, regulators said Tuesday.

About 4,100 of the generators under recall were sold in the United States, while the rest were sold in Canada, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The commission said the fuel tank leaks pose a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

The recall involves Subaru model SGX3500, SGX5000 and SGX7500 generators.

They were sold at Subaru Power Equipment dealerships nationwide from September 2011 through January 2013 for between $920 and $1,800, the commission said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the generators and schedule a free repair through the importer Robin America of Lake Zurich, Ill.

Consumers can call 866-664-1363 for information.
