Crude oil heads higher

NEW YORK, July 1 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices started the week heading higher, breaking above $97 per barrel Monday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil added $1.32 cents to $97.878 per barrel. Reformulated blendstock gasoline gained 3.05 cents to $2.7461 per gallon. Home heating oil added 1.72 cents to reach $2.876 per gallon.

Natural gas gained 2.2 cents to $3.587 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline was $3.487, down from Sunday's $3.492, the AAA Fuel Gauge report said.
