Production rose 1 percent and manufacturing rose 0.8 percent compared with the previous month, the Office of National Statistics said Tuesday. However, both sectors were off compared to February 2012. Production fell 2.2 percent and manufacturing 1.4 percent from 12 months prior, the office said.
The data covers two of four main components that make up the output measure for Britain's gross domestic product.
Data is available for all four components, which includes construction and service businesses, for January.
Services businesses, which make up 77 percent of the output measure of the GDP, were estimated to have expanded 0.3 percent from December 2012 to January 2013, while industrial production dropped 1.3 percent and construction contracted by 6.3 percent, ONS said.
