OTTAWA, April 5 (UPI) -- Canada lost 55,000 full time jobs in March, pushing the unemployment rate up 0.2 percentage points to 7.2 percent.
In February, the Canadian economy added 51,000 jobs, but the unemployment rate at the time did not move, holding at 7 percent.
The first quarter was not marked by consistency. There were 22,000 jobs lost in January in Canada.
Statistics Canada said Friday the economy has added 203,000 new jobs since March 2012. Most of those jobs were full time, Statistics Canada said.
