Gold, silver, down a touch

NEW YORK, April 4 (UPI) -- The price for an ounce of gold lost $1.40 Thursday and settled at $1,552.40 on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Silver lost 3 cents and closed at $26.77 an ounce.

Against the dollar, the euro was $1.2932 from Wednesday's $1.2849. Against the yen, the dollar rose to 96.34 yen from Wednesday's 93.05 yen.
