Gold, silver close up to end week

NEW YORK, March 15 (UPI) -- The price for an ounce of gold rose $1.90 to settle at $1,592.60 Friday on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Silver prices added 4 cents to close at $28.85 an ounce.

The dollar index fell to 82.236 from 82.59 on the International Exchange.

Against the dollar, the euro was $1.3073, up from Thursday's $1.3005. Against the yen, the dollar was 95.31 yen, down from 96.11 yen.

The British pound was at 1.5108 against the dollar Friday, up from $1.5079 Thursday. The dollar was trading for 1.0191 Canadian dollars Friday, down from 1.0223 Canadian.
