Grains trade higher Tuesday

CHICAGO, March 5 (UPI) -- Grains closed mostly higher on the Chicago Board of Trade Tuesday as equities surged in Asia, Europe and on Wall Street.

Corn was off 1 to up 9; soybeans were up 4 1/4 to up 6 1/4; wheat was up 1/4 to up 5 3/4 and oats were off 6 to up 11 1/4.

Corn traded higher as buyers from Israel posted a tender for 70,000 metric tons. Wheat prices rose with the U.S. dollar trading lower -- the dollar index off 0.11 percent to 82.07 on the International Exchange. Soybeans closed higher with the U.S. Department of Agriculture announcing a sale of 330,000 metric tons to an undisclosed buyer.

Corn: Mar 7.32 up 9; May 7.09 up 5 3/4; Jly 6.86 up 4 1/4; Sep 5.77 off 1.

Soybeans: Mar 14.96 1/2 up 6 1/4; May 14.66 1/2 up 4 1/2; Jly 14.47 3/4 up 4 1/2; Aug 14.06 1/2 up 4 1/4.

Wheat: Mar 6.96 1/4 up 1/4; May 7.06 up 3 1/2; Jly 7.09 1/2 up 5; Sep 7.17 3/4 up 5 3/4.

Oats: Mar 3.97 1/2 off 6; May 3.88 3/4 up 4 1/2; Jly 3.83 3/4 up 11 1/4; Sep 3.75 1/4 up 8 1/4.
