FRANKFORT, Ind., March 2 (UPI) -- A test that showed candy eggs were contaminated with salmonella has been shown to be mistaken, a U.S. candymaker says.

Zachary Confections of Frankfort, Ind., recalled Zachary Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Eggs on Wednesday. Working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the company suspended production.

George Anichini, Zachary's vice president of operations, said additional tests found no sign of salmonella, NBC News reported Saturday.

The company has been in business since 1950 and specializes in seasonal candy.
