Grains close higher Thursday

CHICAGO, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Grains closed higher Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade, taking a cue from equity markets that looked to extend a rally most of the day.

Commodity markets closed ahead of stock markets, so a late fade on Wall Street did not diminish the mood in Chicago.

Corn was up 5 to up 10; soybeans were up 9 1/4 to up 16 3/4; wheat was up 1 to up 3 1/2 and oats were up 1/4 to up 9.

The prices:

Corn: Mar 7.19 1/2 up 10; May 7.03 1/2 up 8 1/4; Jly 6.84 3/4 up 6; Sep 5.82 3/4 up 5.

Soybeans: Mar 14.74 1/4 up 16 3/4; May 14.52 1/4 up 12 3/4; Jly 14.35 1/4 up 9 1/4; Aug 13.91 3/4 up 10.

Wheat: Mar 7.07 3/4 up 3 1/2; May 7.14 1/2 up 2 1/2; Jly 7.16 1/2 up 1 1/2; Sep 7.25 1/4 up 1.

Oats: Mar 3.91 3/4 up 9; May 3.77 1/4 up 5 1/2; Jly 3.71 1/4 up 3; Sep 3.68 1/4 up 1/4.
