WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. automaker Chrysler LLC announced a recall of 2003 and 2004 Dodge Viper vehicles due to inadvertent deployment of air bags, regulators said.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the recall involved vehicles made from Nov. 1, 2001, through June 30, 2004.

The airbags could deploy unexpectedly while the car is in use, the NHTSA said. This could lead to a crash. Chrysler, however, said there have been no inadvertent airbag deployments in the vehicles.

Chrysler hasn't announced a date for commencing its remedy but notifications to known owners will be sent out this month, the agency said.

The recall involves about 3,600 vehicles.
