Grains mostly lower Thursday

CHICAGO, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Corn futures closed mostly lower Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade with the dollar index up 0.35 percent to 80.35 on the International Exchange.

Corn was off 1 to unchanged, soybeans were off 5 to off 6 1/4, wheat was off 2 to off 3 1/2 and oats were unchanged to up 3 1/4.

The dollar's recent rally weighed on grain prices. A bullish market retrenched late in the session in Chicago with enthusiasm for selling fading as the day progressed.

The prices:

Corn: Mar 6.94 3/4 off 3/4, May 6.92 3/4 off 3/4, Jly 6.82 1/4 off 1, Sep 5.83 unchanged.

Soybeans: Mar 14.18 off 5, May 14.08 1/2 off 5, Jly 13.99 1/4 off 5 1/2, Aug 13.63 1/4 off 6 1/4.

Wheat: Mar 7.32 off 3 1/2, May 7.40 1/4 off 3 1/4, Jly 7.43 3/4 off 2, Sep 7.53 1/2 off 2.

Oats: Mar 3.80 unchanged, May 3.75 up 3 1/4, Jly 3.72 1/2 up 2 1/2, Sep 3.71 3/4 up 2 1/2.
