GM to recall 231,000 vehicles with fire hazard

NEW YORK, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- The price of gold on the New York Mercantile Exchange yielded to a stronger dollar Thursday.
The dollar index jumped 0.63 percent to 80.24 on the International Exchange, putting pressure on commodities priced in U.S. dollars.
On the Comex listing, gold gave up $7.10 or 0.45 percent to $1,671.30 per troy ounce. Silver dropped 46 cents or 1.49 percent to settle at $31.40 an ounce.
Against the dollar, the euro fell to $1.3396 from Wednesday's $1.3523. The dollar rose to 93.66 yen from 93.64 yen.
