NEW YORK, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- The price of gold rose slightly Monday in New York as equities retreated on Wall Street.

Equities pulled back from a five-week rally, but early gains in the U.S. dollar held a commodities rally in check.

On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold added $4.70 to $1,675.30 per troy ounce. Silver gave up 19 cents to $31.77 an ounce.

Against the dollar, the euro was $1.3511 from Friday's $1.3651. The dollar was 92.16 yen from 92.78 yen.
