CHICAGO, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed mixed Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade.
Corn was off 3 to up 3/4, soybeans were up 4 to up 6 3/4, wheat was off 2 1/4 to off 1 1/4 and oats were off 1 1/4 to off 1 3/4.
Positive export demand data and strong ethanol prices lent support to corn futures Tuesday, but pressure came from an ethanol plant in Texas that said it would suspend production due to high corn prices.
Wheat futures slipped with rain moving across winter wheat acreage.
Soybeans gained on continued dry weather in Argentina and wet weather in Brazil, which is delaying the harvest there.
The prices:
Corn: Mar 7.29 1/2 up 1/4, May 7.30 up 3/4, Jly 7.20 1/2 unchanged, Sep 6.10 1/2 off 3.
Soybeans: Mar 14.51 3/4 up 4, May 14.39 3/4 up 6 1/4, Jly 14.29 1/2 up 6 3/4, Aug 14.02 up 6 1/4.
