
WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Mattress Cloud Inc. of New York is recalling 1,400 mattresses that fail to meet federal standards for flammability, a watchdog agency said.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the Brooklyn company's new and renovated (rebuilt) twin, full, queen and king mattresses sets pose a fire hazard
The mattresses were sold in a variety of colors and fabrics.
The words "Ultra Support" and "Ortho Type" are printed on cloth labels ironed onto the mattresses.
They are also tagged with a label that says, "Manufactured By: The mattress Cloud, 769 Chauncey, Brooklyn, NY 11207."
Mattress Cloud mattresses made before Jan. 25, 2012, are included in the recall.
They were sold at stores in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey from August 2011 through January 2012 for $80 to $175.
Consumers were advised to contact Mattress Cloud to receive a free replacement mattress. The company will pick up the recalled mattresses, the commission said.
