GM to recall 231,000 vehicles with fire hazard

WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices rose modestly overnight in advance of a weekly stockpile report, but still held well under $94 per barrel Wednesday in New York.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil on the New York Mercantile Exchange added 12 cents to $93.22 per barrel. Gasoline gained in late trading to return to $2.7789 a gallon. Home heating oil slipped 0.49 cents to $3.065 a gallon.
The price of natural gas added 2.2 cents to $3.135 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, AAA reported the national average price for regular unleaded gasoline rose to $3.304 per gallon from Tuesday's $3.30.
