WASHINGTON, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- U.S. regulators announced a voluntary recall of Sassy and Carter's-branded Hug N' Tug Baby toys due to a choking hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said 45,300 Hug N' Tug toys were imported from China and sold by Sassy Inc. of Kentwood, Mich., nationwide from August 2011 through October 2012 for $8 for the Sassy-branded toys and $14 for the Carter's-branded models.

The toys are for infants. They are made to be attached to a stroller or a car seat with a ring connector.

The toys have arms and legs designed for pulling and tugging. They are 12 inches tall, made of fabric in many colors. The toys include rattle beads inside a clear plastic sphere that represents to toys body. On top of that is a head of either a puppy or a monkey.

The CPSC said the beads in the rattle can be released and pose a choking hazard for young children.

Consumers were advised to take the toys from children and contact Sassy for instructions on how to return the product for a free replacement toy.

Consumers can call 800-323-6336 for information.
