Britain weighing gasoline price-fixing probe of BP, Shell, Statoil

NEW YORK, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Gold futures were marginally higher on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Monday, adding $1.20 or 0.07 percent to $1,698.20 per troy ounce.
Silver for March delivery added 4 cents or 0.13 percent to $32.34 an ounce.
The dollar index was little changed, but the euro rose to $1.3158 from Friday's $1.3075. The dollar rose to 83.88 yen from 83.66 yen, a 19-month high.
The Australian dollar rose to $1.0546 from $1.0528. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.984 Canadian from 0.9852 Canadian. The British pound rose to $1.6196 from $1.6113.
