TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Toyota Motor North America Inc. is set to recall 11,153 Scion IQ vehicles due to problems with a cable under the passenger seat, U.S. regulators said Monday.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said model year 2012-13 Scion IQs made between July 31, 2011 and Oct. 12, 2012, were being recalled as the cable for the Occupant Classification System could become damaged when sliding the passenger seat forward or backward.

Should this occur, the vehicle's passenger side air bag could fail to deploy in an accident.

The recall is scheduled to begin in December, the NHTSA said.

Consumers can call 800-424-9153 for information.

The recall comes on the heels of Toyota's announced recalls nearly 2.8 million vehicles last Wednesday.

That recall involved 10 models, including the Corolla, Avensis and Prius for problems with the steering shaft and water pumps.

In addition, Toyota initiated its largest-ever recall in October. That recall, involving 7.43 million vehicles worldwide, including 2.52 million in the United States, was due to power-window switches that could overheat, possibly starting a fire, The Detroit News reported.

Plagued by massive recalls, Toyota also recalled 12.4 million vehicles from 2009 through 2011 for throttle control problems.
