SHANGHAI, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- The chairman of Chinese manufacturing giant Foxconn Electronics said the company would train U.S. engineers in either China or Taiwan.

Terry Guo said the engineers would learn both design and manufacturing that they can put to use when they return to the United States.

DigiTimes reported Thursday that industry analysts believe the company, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, is using the training program to pave the way for manufacturing in the United States.

The company is reported to be studying various U.S. locations to use for manufacturing.

Analysts expect Foxconn would begin with LCD television production in the United States, as it is simpler than manufacturing Apple products.

Guo said the firm is consulting with experts at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology about the training program.
