NHTSA investigating Jeep Patriot stalling problems at high speeds

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- A federal auto industry watchdog agency in Washington said Friday it would investigate a stalling problem with 2011 and 2012 model year Jeep Patriot vehicles.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it had received repeated complaints concerning Patriots stalling at high speeds.

Most of the complaints of engine stalling have involved vehicles traveling at least 65 mph, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The engines have been stalling without any warning and one of the incidents of stalling reportedly resulted in a crash with an injury.

The federal agency said there were 112,000 Jeep Patriots on the road from the model years in question.

The Patriot is a Chrysler Group product.
