Maserati recalls 7,438 vehicles

NEW YORK, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. markets followed stocks in Asia and Europe lower Monday.
By close of trading, the Dow Jones industrial average shed 26.50 points, or 0.19 percent, to 13,583.65. The Nasdaq composite index lost 23.83 points, or 0.76 percent, to 3,112.35. The Standard and Poor's 500 index gave up 5.05 points, or 0.35 percent, to 1,455.88.
On the New York Stock Exchange, 1,172 stocks advanced and 1,813 declined on a volume of 2.3 billion shares traded.
The benchmark 10-year treasury note was flat, yielding 1.75 percent.
The euro fell to $1.2968 from Friday's $1.3036. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 78.32 yen from 78.67 yen.
In London, the FTSE 100 index lost 0.5 percent, 29.28 points, to 5,841.74.
