NEW YORK, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Gold prices added 20 cents to settle at $1,619.40 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday.
Silver lost 21 cents to $28 an ounce.
Against the euro, the dollar was $1.2318 from $1.2358 Thursday. Against the yen, the dollar was 79.56 from 79.33 yen.
The British pound was $1.5685 from $1.5737. Against the Canadian dollar, the U.S. dollar was 0.9891 from 0.9865 Thursday.
