NEW YORK, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Gold prices shed $10.20, settling at $1,602.40 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday.
Silver held steady at $27.84 an ounce, on the day off less than a cent.
Against the euro, the dollar was $1.232 from $1.2333 Monday. Against the yen, the dollar was 78.72 from 78.32 yen.
The British pound was $1.5678 from $1.5684. Against the Canadian dollar, the U.S. dollar was 0.9923 Tuesday from 0.9926 Monday.
