NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Gold prices added $2.60, settling at $1,623.70 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday.
Silver retreated 4 cents, closing at $28.06 an ounce.
The euro was $1.2294 Friday from $1.2304 Thursday. Against the yen, the dollar was 78.30 Friday from 78.58 yen Wednesday.
The British pound was $1.5683 Friday from $1.5637 Thursday. Against the Canadian dollar, the U.S. dollar was 0.9910 Friday from 0.9914 Thursday.
