Saab upgrading bid for Brazil FX-2 contest

WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- A retail trade group said 16 states across the United States were allowing consumers a tax break on back-to-school items in August.
The International Council of Shopping Centers said tax holidays were scheduled this week in Alabama (Aug. 3-5), Arkansas (Aug. 4-5), Florida (Aug. 3-5), Iowa (Aug. 3-4), Louisiana (Aug. 3-4), Missouri (Aug. 3-5), New Mexico (Aug. 3-5), North Carolina (Aug. 3-5), Oklahoma (Aug. 3-5), South Carolina (Aug. 3-5), Tennessee (Aug. 3-5) and Virginia (Aug. 3-5).
Back-to-school tax breaks in the following week would be available in Georgia (Aug. 10-11), the trade group said.
August also has retail tax holidays set for Maryland (Aug. 12-18), Texas (Aug. 17-19), and Connecticut (Aug. 19-25).
