AA to expand lie-flat option on planes

FORT WORTH, Texas, July 28 (UPI) -- American Airlines said some long-haul domestic flights would be run with planes with so-called lie-flat seats in the business and first class sections.

The airline did not say when planes with lie-flat seats would be put to use for transcontinental flights, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

American is expecting delivery of new Airbus 321 jets in November that will have 10 lie-flat seats in the first class cabin and 20 in business class, the newspaper said.

The seats don't lie perfectly flat, although they include a head rest, seat back and leg rest.

"Passengers often find these seats to be extremely comfortable for relaxing and working, but not conducive to sleep when in the fully reclined position because of the awkward angle," says SeatGuru, a Web site that advises passengers on seating comfort.
