ROSELAND, N.J., July 5 (UPI) -- Payroll firm Automatic Data Processing Inc. said the U.S. economy added 176,000 private sector jobs in June, which exceeded expectations.

Economists had forecast an additional 105,000 jobs would be created in the month.

ADP also said 136,000 private sector jobs were added to the economy in May, a slightly higher revision from 133,000, the figure released a month ago.

The monthly report anticipates Friday's government report on jobs, which includes private and public sector employment.

ADP said firms with fewer than 50 employees again added the lion's share of the new jobs with 93,000 added in June. Companies with 51 to 499 employees added 72,000 jobs. Firms with more than 500 workers added 11,000 jobs.

ADP said 160,000 jobs were in service providing businesses. Manufacturing added on-tenth that number with goods-producing firms gaining 16,000 employees in the month.
