LONDON, June 12 (UPI) -- Industrial production was flat in Britain March to April, but fell 1 percent on a seasonally adjusted annual basis, the government said Tuesday.

The Office of National Statistics said manufacturing over the same 12-month period fell 0.3 percent. Compared to March 2012, however, manufacturing fell 0.7 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis in April.

Economists had expected industrial production to rise 0.1 percent March to April and drop 1 percent on a seasonally adjusted 12-month basis.

Manufacturing was expected to remain flat month to month but climb 0.4 percent April 2011 to April 2012.
