CHICAGO, June 8 (UPI) -- Grain futures were mixed at the close Friday on the Chicago Board of Trade as the dollar index rose to 82.471 from 82.241.
Corn was up 4 to up 8, soybeans were off 1 3/4 to off 8 3/4, wheat was off 9 1/2 to off 11 1/2 and oats were up 3 1/4 to up 9 3/4.
Corn and oats lodged gains on the outlook for cooler, wetter weather across the Midwest while talk of a hot, dry extended forecast provided underlying support. A major satellite forecasting firm projected corn production down 1.2 billion bushels from the USDA forecast. Pressure from outside markets pushed soybeans lower despite news of increased demand from China. Wheat suffered from weather concerns and talk of overbought conditions.
The prices:
Corn: Jly 5.98 up 4, Sep 5.51 up 8, Dec 5.44 up 7 1/2, Mar 5.56 up 7 3/4.
