CHICAGO, May 18 (UPI) -- Grain futures Friday were mostly higher on the Chicago Board of Trade, with the exception of soybeans as the dollar index fell 0.54 percent.
Corn was up 7 1/4 to up 10 1/2, soybeans were off 18 1/2 to off 33, wheat was up 29 1/2 to up 37 1/2 and oats were up 1 1/2 to up 2 3/4.
Corn prices firmed with purchases by China offsetting a week of negative outside influences. Wheat futures made sharp gains with support from the weaker dollar. Soybean futures plunged late in the day on beneficial weather reports and a lack of demand news.
