Gold closes slightly higher

NEW YORK, April 30 (UPI) -- Gold prices added 60 cents Monday on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, ending the session at $1,665.40 per troy ounce.

Silver shed 37 cents to close at $31.03 an ounce.

The euro fell to $1.3237 from Friday's $1.3253, while the British pound was $1.6232 from Friday's $1.6266.

Against the Japanese yen, the dollar was 79.83 yen from 80.27 yen. The dollar was at 7.7588 Hong Kong dollars from 7.7596.

The dollar rose to 0.9875 Canadian dollars from 0.9805. The Australian dollar was $1.0421 from $1.0471.
