Sakar Int'l recalls battery chargers

April 20, 2012 at 2:40 PM

WASHINGTON, April 20 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Sakar International battery chargers due to risk of an electrical shock.

About 48,000 Digital Concepts Compact Travel Chargers that hold two AA or AAA batteries include plastic that can break, exposing the consumer to the risk of a shock.

The battery chargers were imported from China by Sakar International and sold nationwide for about $10 from January 2011 through February 2012.

The chargers have a sticker on the top that says "Digital Concepts" and "Compact Travel Charger".

The chargers can also be identified by item numbers. The numbers CH-1600S and CH-1600-RS can be found on the white label on the underside of the chargers.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled battery chargers and contact Sakar International Inc. for a replacement product.

Consumers can call 877-397-8200 for information.
