Gas prices down -- if you can call it that

WASHINGTON, April 11 (UPI) -- The national average price of regular gasoline fell -- marginally -- for the first time in 11 weeks, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said Wednesday.

The national average price of gasoline dropped by $0.002 cent in the week to $3.939 per gallon, the agency said.

The average price is now 14.8 cents above the same week a year earlier.

In the week, U.S. crude oil inventories rose by 2.8 million barrels in the week that ended Friday.

The agency said crude oil inventories rose to 365.2 million barrels in the latest report. Supplies are in the upper limit for the average range for this time of year, the agency said.

Supplies of distillate fuels, which include home heating oil, fell by 4 million barrels to 131.9 million barrels and remain in the middle of the average range for this time of year, the EIA said.

Gasoline inventories dropped by 4.3 million barrels to 217.6 million barrels and are in the upper limit of the average range for this time of year.

Inventories of finished gasoline and blending components both fell, the agency said.

The EIA said the national average price of regular gasoline fell -- marginally -- for the first time in 11 weeks.
