U.S. markets recover from steep losses

NEW YORK, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- The price of gold was little changed in New York Monday, as the dollar index was flat, rising 0.01 percent to 79.02.
On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold dropped 40 cents to $1,724.90. Silver added 11 cents to $33.72 per ounce.
The euro fell to $1.3186 from Friday's $1.3199. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 77.57 yen from Friday's 77.61 yen.
The British pound was $1.5749 from Friday's $1.5766. Against the Hong Kong dollar, the dollar rose to 7.7549 from Friday's 7.7545.
The dollar rose to 1.0009 Canadian dollars compared with 0.9997 on Friday. The Australian dollar fell to $1.0714 from $1.0732.
