

NEW YORK, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- The price of gold dropped $19.60 an ounce in New York Friday, putting prices in negative territory for the week.
On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold dropped to $1,721.80, down from the week's starting point of $1,740.23.
The euro fell to $1.3178 from Thursday's $1.3286. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 77.65 yen from Thursday's 77.66 yen.
The dollar index, a prorated index that compares the dollar to six major currencies, rose 0.57 percent to 79.10.
The British pound was $1.5751 Friday from $1.5818 Thursday. Against the Hong Kong dollar, the dollar was 7.7555 from Thursday's 7.7548.
The dollar rose to 1.0021 Canadian dollars compared with 0.995 on Thursday. The Australian dollar fell to $1.0671 from $1.0786.
