U.S. markets recover from steep losses

NEW YORK, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- The price of gold gained $23.10 an ounce Tuesday, turning around a two-day slide to settle at $1,748 per troy ounce in New York.
On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, silver added 43.7 cents to end the session at $34.18 an ounce.
The euro rose to $1.3256 from Monday's $1.3131. Against the yen, the dollar rose to 76.78 from Monday's 76.55 yen.
The British pound was $1.5893 Tuesday from $1.5898 Monday. Against the Hong Kong dollar, the dollar was 7.7538 from Monday's 7.7535.
The dollar was 0.995 Canadian dollars compared with 0.9946 a day earlier. The Australian dollar was $1.08 from $1.0807 Monday.
