U.S. markets recover from steep losses

NEW YORK, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- The price of gold lost $15.40 an ounce Monday to settle at $1,724.90 on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Silver fell by 7 cents to end the session at $33.67 an ounce.
The euro was lower at $1.3123 from Friday's $1.3131. Against the yen, the dollar rose to 76.56 from Thursday's 76.55 yen.
The British pound was $1.582 Monday from $1.5825 Friday. Against the Hong Kong dollar, the dollar was 7.7539 from Friday's 7.7536.
The dollar was 0.9962 Canadian dollars compared with 0.9959 Canadian dollars Friday. The Australian dollar was $1.072 from $1.0727 Thursday.
