Report: Target to host Apple outlets

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Industry sources say Apple is making plans to open a chain of mini-stores inside various Target locations around the United States later this year.

AppleInsider.com said the approximately 25 outlets will be located in Target stores in smaller cities that are not considered large enough for a stand-alone Apple store. While Target already sells iPhones and iPads, the Apple locations will also probably sell computers as well.

Apple declined comment; however, the Los Angeles Times said Saturday Apple had a similar retail approach in place with Best Buy. Hundreds of Best Buy locations have dedicated Apple displays, some of which even have Apple sales staff on hand.
