More to U.S. oil than North Dakota, EIA says
OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 20 (UPI) -- The city council of Oakland, Calif., is expected to consider a measure allowing authorities to take stronger action against demonstrators at the city's port.
A measure allowing authorities to use "lawful tools" to prevent protesters from blocking the port passed in a Rules and Legislation Committee meeting last week. The City Council is expected to review the measure Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Activity at the port was disrupted Dec. 12 when thousands of Occupy Wall Street protesters interfered with traffic and prevented longshoremen from getting to work at the port, the third busiest container port in California and the sixth busiest in the country.
