Family Dollar recalls animal slippers

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Kidgets Animal Sock Top Slippers with eyes that pose a choking hazard.

About 160,000 Animal Sock Top Slippers were sold at stores nationwide operated by Family Dollar Services Inc. of Mathews, N.C.

They were sold from September 2011 through October 2011 for about $5.

The eyes on the animals can detach, posing a potential choking hazard.

The recalled slippers have dog, duck or lion faces. The name "Kidgets" and the size appear inside the slippers on the soles. "FD9619108020690611" is printed inside the slippers on the side.

Consumers were advised to take the slippers away from children and return them to a Family Dollar outlet for a full refund.
