U.S. markets recover from steep losses

DETROIT, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- General Motors Co. said Wednesday an electric-powered Chevrolet Spark will be available in U.S. showrooms in 2013.
The all-electric version of the Spark is expected to find an audience in congested cities, The Detroit News reported.
The Spark is currently available in Europe and elsewhere, but not in the United States, where one of its competitors will be GM's Chevrolet Volt, an electric car with a gas engine that extends its range, which was introduced in 2010.
Global vehicle line executive Jim Federico said, "We have a lot experience with electrification. We understand the path to electrification includes a full range of technologies."
