U.S. markets recover from steep losses

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Google Inc.'s purchase of restaurant review company Zagat Survey LLC will set the U.S. company back $125 million, a source told a New York newspaper.
The Wall Street Journal said Saturday a source had divulged the price tag for the deal that Google announced Thursday -- but without naming a price.
Zagat, based in New York, publishes a popular, pocket-sized book that reviews restaurants and other attractions with the help of 350,000 contributors. Although it has a small presence on the Internet, Google's purchase is part of a strategy to get local businesses to advertise more on the Internet.
Zagat could also help Google establish its travel-search business, the Journal said.
