SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 21 (UPI) -- The head of the social networking Web site LinkedIn is not optimistic about the fate of the new Google+ site because he says people don't have enough time.
"Nobody has any free time," LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner told an audience at the Churchill Club in Santa Clara, Calif., earlier this week, Business Insider reported. In fact, Weiner predicted Google+, a rival of the social networking site Facebook, likely would fail to catch on.
"Unlike social platforms and TV, which can coexist, you don't see people using Twitter while they're using Facebook, or using Facebook while they're using LinkedIn," said Weiner, who took over Mountain View, Calif.-based LinkedIn in June 2009.
LinkedIn has about 70 million users and is expected to go public with an IPO. Google+ launched invitation-only field trials this month and had some 10 million users after two weeks.
Weiner said Monday there's a limit to the number of social networking sites that can coexist -- LinkedIn for professional lives, Facebook for socializing with family and friends, and Twitter for sharing thoughts with a wide range of people, Business Insider said.
"It's like saying there's only room for one search provider or one anything else," Rob Enderle, an analyst at Enderle group told Computerworld. "The market likes a choice."
